Shriya Saran says no to soft drink ads
Chennai: Following the footsteps of Tamil actor Ajit, southern actress Shriya Saran too has decided not to endorse any soft drink brands.
“I did a soft drink ad some time back. Later, a mother came to me and said that her child started consuming more of that drink after seeing my ad. It made me measure my actions,” said Shriya, who teamed up with Tamil superstar Rajnikant in Sivaji: The Boss.
A soft drink ad fetches the actresses Rs.5-6 million and one just has to shoot for four-five days for the commercial, while for a movie one has to slog for months and the remuneration is not as good.
Apart from Tamil films, Shriya also featured in Hindi movies Awarapan and Mission Istaanbul.

Nagarjuna To Begin His Next Movie
Nagarjuna has put rumours to rest, that his film will not be releasing this year. On July 24th his next film with D. Shiva Prasad Reddy as the producer will start rolling. Nagarjuna had delivered a string of hits like Vikki Dada, Allari Alludu, Seetarama Raju, Nenunnanu, and much recently King from their banner.
The film will be released in December, the month that Nagarjuna has an attachment to. Kiran Kumar makes his debut as a director. So King will get busy from next month onwards. At the moment selection of the technical team is on.

At 23, she is used to stardom of sorts having performed live with her own music band and sung for a number of films. But it’s Soham Shah’s Luck that she’s setting her hopes on.
Her romantic lead is Imran Khan, who Shruti has known since childhood. “He actually considers me his little sister, but that didn’t make it difficult for me to romance him on screen!” she laughed. But the film is not all romance. She’s done death-defying stunts “crossing all boundaries that might have ever existed while filming action scenes” and wounded herself too in the bargain. “But I’m proud of those bruises,” said Shruti.
She’s happy, however, that her superstar father didn’t drop on the sets. “I wouldn’t be able to act in front of him so I told him to stay away and watch the final product,” she smiled. Doing a bikini scene, too, would be difficult with Kamal around, she admitted. “I’m okay with wearing a bikini onscreen or showing a little skin. I don’t know why a great deal is made out of the bikini! All those who have worn it till date, have looked good, and if you have a great body — then why not,” she said, “but... my dad shouldn’t be in the same film!”

Hansika Motwani is a big girl now
She really 16? “No,I’m not .But that’s what everyone thinks. I don’t blame them because for the past four years, most websites haven’t changed my age. So even thought I’m 20 years old, people think I’m still 16. But I’m a big girl ,”clarifies Hansika Motwani, who’s currently in the spotlight for starring with Himesh Reshammiya in the much-hyped Aap Ka Suroor.
Contrary to popular belief, Hansika feels her entry into the industry at 16 was an advantage.”I believe opportunity knocks only once, So you’d better grab it before someone else does. My parents were also supportive of my decision to enter films, but I’m also pursuing my studies. So while most people enter the industry at 21 and doing good work at that age,”She says with confidence.
She says she got a positive feed-back for Aap Ka Suroor. “A lot of people told me they watched the film because they liked me and my smile,”she says. But did she ever feel left out, considering how Himesh has hogged most of the limelight ?
“When people go on a city tour,all they get to see are my posters. And when people switch on their TVs, it’s our songs they see,it,s Aap ka Suroor everywhere, so I’ve got my due. Besides, many people from the industry also called to congratulate me,”she says.

But now several Latin American distributors, who saw the international version of Rakesh Roshan’s Kites, are stunned by Hrithik’s resemblance to Jesus Christ in the film. It’s been two weeks since the Bollywood film was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival, but the buzz around it still continues at the French Riviera. And, another thing, if the Mexican actress Barbara Mori has taken Bollywood by storm, Hrithik has done the same in Latin America. Foreign distributors were reportedly taken up by the searing intensity in his eyes, his lithe frame and Adonis-like tan. Some of them were heard commenting that Hrithik would be the ideal actor to play Christ in a western production.

Manjula says Mahesh babu is a perfectionist
She belongs to one the most illustrious film families of Tollywood. With veteran actor Krishna for a father and current Tollywood heartthrob Mahesh Babu for a brother, it could have been easy for Manjula Swaroop to be overshadowed by their success. Yet, she has carved a niche for herself in the male dominated Telugu film industry. While her debut film Show bagged two national awards, Pokiri which was produced by her raked in more than Rs 60 crore and became the biggest hit of the year.
Manjula who has been producing films for six years has yet another unconventional film lined up — Kavya’s diary. The film has Charmee in the lead, and deals with the hardships of a working woman in an urban setting. But will a woman-oriented film work, especially since Tollywood has so far been dominated by hero-centric films? “Five years ago when I did Show, the Telugu audience was not ready for women-oriented movies. But more recently we’ve had films like Anasuya, Mantra and Arundati which did well at the box office,” Manjula says. The Telugu audience, she says, is probably ready for female oriented movies.
While Manjula has numerous hits to her credit, she feels that flops like Nani have helped her stay grounded. The sociology graduate now plans to remake James Bond with her brother in the lead.
While she is open to acting, she chooses parallel cinema to showcase her talent. However, when it comes to producing films, Manjula prefers to play it safe. “The audience here prefer entertainment. They can’t accept films where the hero is killed. They need a good potboiler. Even when Tamil films are remade in Telugu, the climax is altered to suit the audience taste,” she adds.
While it is common to see star sons turn actors in Tollywood, it is always different for the daughters. “In our society, daughters are more sheltered. Although I was offered lead roles, I had to turn them down due to objections from my father’s fans,” she reveals. Manjula who wanted to be a part of the film industry since the age of 15 was furious when she was told that fans looked upon her as a sister. “They didn’t want to see me in commercial cinema. We have to respect the audience’s sentiments, I guess,” she says adding that in retrospect she wouldn’t have been comfortable with acting in commercial films either.

Hansika is not partying
Hansika is annoyed with reports in media circles about her partying with friends and forcing a producer to foot the bill. “I’d like to know how such baseless reports surface,” she asks. She intends to sue the websites for carrying such unfounded news and is now demanding an explanation from them. “I am not a party animal at all. I reach home by 7 pm to spend time with my family,” she clarifies. She feels that her detractors are trying to ruin her reputation but their ‘plans could go awry’ since she claims that producers will vouch for her being above board.
